Mission: The main goals of Lambda Theta Alpha are to achieve scholastic excellence, to support and maintain minority unity, and to promote cultural awareness of both Latinos and other minority cultures. In addition, all sisters should participate in community work. 

Chapter History: Lambda Theta Alpha had its beginning in 1975 at Keene College and became an academic sorority in 1975. The University of Connecticut was the first chapter established in the
state in 1991. 

Membership eligibility: LTA is not an exclusive group of women. Members come from various nationalities and races. There are two categories of membership: regular and associate.
Regular: Students attending the University with a 2.3 cumulative GPA and who support and agree with the goals and objectives of the organization. Regular members have voting privileges and have the right to run for office.
Associate: Members of the UConn community at large interested in supporting the work of the organization. They will not have voting privileges or the right to run for office.
